1. SCHEDULED HALF DAY DURBAN CITY TOUR

Travel through the main attractions Durban has to offer, from viewing the building of the sporting facilities for the 2010 Soccer World Cup to the Harbour Entrance which is the main port of entry for all cargo and a host of other shipments to Kwa –Zulu Natal. You will also be driven past the Ushaka Marine World, Durban’s finest aquarium.

Continue to Victory Street Market which is full of awe and intrigue. It offers tourists a variety of different stores and displays that can be purchased. This includes anything from wild berries to hand crafted souvenirs. You will be driven through the streets of downtown Durban where you can view the City Hall building and other historic buildings like the Playhouse Theatre.

The last stop for the day will be at the University of Natal, showing of the diverse cultures and comforts that students of South Africa are offered. Return back to your hotel at approximately at 13:00.


2. HALF DAY VALLEY OF 1000 HILLS

This is a tour of complete scenery, culture and game all rolled into one tour.

You will be driven through Hillcrest which is one of the up market suburbs of KwaZulu Natal to the reconstructed Zulu Village. Here you will be dazzled by a rich cultural Zulu Dance show and the awesome backdrops that lie in the valley of a thousand hills. You will learn the traditions and beliefs of the Zulu culture.

On route is a visit to a snake and crocodile park which is family orientated and shows some of the reptiles of South Africa. There is the opportunity to experience a small scale cultural show that includes the life of King Shaka before returning back to your hotel.


3. SCHEDULED HALF DAY TOWNSHIP

Your tours starts with a visit to the KwaMuhle Museum where you will gain an understanding of the history of Apartheid in Durban. Drive through contrasting residential areas, each a reflection of the socio-economic backgrounds of their inhabitants. Start at the informal settlements of Cato Manor where you will have the opportunity to meet a family and to understand the situation that many families find themselves in while living in the townships. Continue to the formalised government housing of Chesterville a contrasting style of the 1940’s with that of the post ’94 housing projects.

Visit the township of Clermont where you stop at a local “shebeen” and also visit KwaDabeka, the largest migrant labour hostel in South Africa, home to some 20 000 people. Return to your hotel in Durban.

4. FULL DAY SHAKALAND ZULU EXPEREIENCE

You will be collected early for your tour to Shakaland. Enjoy a two hour drive from Durban along the Dolphin Coast via Sibiya inland to the Rural Zululand area.

Visit Shakaland, a Zulu Kraal near Eshowe in the Nkwalini Valley. Participate in and experience a cultural programme of Zulu traditions which includes spear making, hut building, pottery and weaving. You will be enthralled and dazzled by the spectacular Zulu dance show and enjoy a taste of Zulu beer. Enjoy a typical Zulu meal, buffet style, while being entertained by traditional singing and dancing before returning to Durban.


5. FULL DAY HLUHLUWE GAME RESERVE

Depart early from your hotel and drive northwards towards Zululand, passing rolling hills, sugar cane fields and forest plantations.

Arrive at Hluhluwe –Umfolozi game Reserve, the oldest in Africa and world renowned for its work in saving the rhino from extinction.

Enjoy a full day of game viewing, in a 96 thousand hectare wildlife sanctuary. Have the opportunity to spot animals from small to big, including the Big 5 as well as enjoying a picnic lunch. Your tour ends upon your arrival back at your hotel.


6. FULL DAY SANI PASS / LESOTHO

After an early morning collection from your hotel, travel inland past Pietermaritzburg and through the Natal Midlands.

Arrive at the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg and travel in a 4x4 vehicle up the steep and spectacular Sani Pass, up into the “Roof of Africa”. As you rise over the escarpment you cross over into the Mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho.

Enjoy the opportunity of visiting a traditional village and learn about the local people’s traditions and way of life. Taste some local beer and bread before having lunch at the highest pub in Africa.

Descend the Sani Pass and back into South Africa for your trip back to Durban. You will arrive back at your hotel in the early evening.
